    YANGON GOVERNMENT INKS US$750 MILLION CONCESSION AGREEMENT WITH MALAYSIAN CONGLOMERATE  
       
    Yangon’s regional government has signed a concession agreement worth $750 million with BDS Smart City Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Berjaya Land Berhad (BLand), one of the largest conglomerates in Malaysia to develop a housing and mixed-use project in Myanmar’s commercial hub, Yangon. BLand estimates the total development cost of the project to come up to $614.9 million. Situated in the corner of Myanandar Road and Shwe Li Road, in the Dagon Seikkan Township, the Project comprises of 12 parcels of vacant development land measuring in total area of about 183 acres. The Project will include affordable housing, medium-range apartments, high-end condominiums, commercial units, hospitals, schools and also community centres, and is expected to be rolled out in three phases over a period of nine years. BDS will own exclusive rights to the land for 50 years, extendable for two additional terms of 10 years each.
