On 7 May 2019, Myanmar Business Today reported that the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) has approved a project to upgrade the No.2 Terminal of Ahlone International Port in Yangon with a $290 million investment. The project, which includes upgrading the 200 metre-long and 30 metre-wide terminal and storage facility, will be spearheaded by the Singapore-based Adani Yangon International Terminal Company.
According to U Than Kyaw, the Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, ports and port terminals are a high priority for government investments as Myanmar is in need of logistics services. He added that the development in the sector will help to improve the country’s trade capabilities.

In addition, the Yangon Regional Government has announced plans to implement the Ngepinle Inland Port and bonded warehouse near Ngepinle Industrial Zone in the Hlaingtharya Township. The Myanmar Authority has also said that the No.27 terminal built near Thilawa Special Economic Zone is expected to finish by 2020.

Projects like these drive up the demand for building & construction products, services and solutions in Myanmar, which opens up plenty of great business opportunities for companies in the industry to invest or engage in trade. MYANBUILD – Myanmar’s No.1 International Building & Construction Industry Show intends to provide the perfect business-to-business platform for realising those opportunities.
